NLD Chairperson Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Held a Dinner with Ethnic Leaders


In the evening of the 12th February, 2012, a dinner party was held to celebrate the 65th anniversary Union Day at the residence of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. NLD patrons U Tin Oo, Win Tin, U Than Tun, U Hla Pe, U Nyunt Wai and CEC members U Nyan Win, U Ohn Kyaing, Daw May Win Myint, U Win Myint, U Win Htein and ethnic leaders attended the ceremony. The dinner ended at 8:15 p.m.

CRPP meeting held



On 1st July, 2011, regular meeting of Committee Representing People's Parliament was held at the headquarters of NLD. NLD Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, and other CEC members such as U Win Tin, U Than Tun, U Hla Pe and CRPP secretary U Aye Thar Aung, U Pu Cin Tian Htan and U Soe Win attended the meeting. They discussed about current political situation and decided to replace some members of CRPP who are not able to continue to take their responsibilities for health reason.

CRPP's regular meeting held



On 6th May, a regular meeting of the Committee Representing People's Parliament (CRPP) was held at the headquarters of NLD at 1:00 p.m.

Central Executive Committee members including Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Win Tin, and ethnic leaders such as U Aye Tha Aung, U Pu Cin Tian Htan and U Soe Win attended the meeting.

Congratulations Letters bestowed to U Khun Tun Oo and detained Shan leaders

Shan Leaders

A ceremony to congratulate detained Shan leaders including U Khun Tun Oo, Chairman of Shan Nationalities League for Democracy who have been arrested and sent to remote prisons by the State Peace and Development Council (SPDC) in February 2005, was held at the house of U Khun Tun Oo on 30th March, 2011. The ceremony was organized by ethnic leaders and democracy forces and letters of congratulations were bestowed to detained Shan leaders.

Ethnic leaders such as Naing Ngwe Thein, U Aye Thar Aung, U Pu Cin Tian Htan, U Htaung Co Thang and U Sai Saw Aung and NLD central executive committee members including U Win Tin, U Ohn Kyaing, U Nyan Win and U Han Thar Myint, veteran politicians, and some other leaders attended the ceremony. In that ceremony, Naing Ngwe Thein handed the Letters of Congratulations for U Khun Tun Oo and other detained Shan leaders to U Khun Tun Oo's wife Daw Wai Wai Lwin. Thakin Chan Tun and U Win Tin made some congratulatory remarks for them. Then Dr. Aung Tin Oo read out the congratulations letter on behalf of the organizers of the event. U Sai Saw Aung responded with words of thanks on behalf of detained Shan leaders to the organizers.

Chin National Day held at NLD head office

Chin National Day


On 20th February, 63th anniversary of Chin National Day organized by leaders from Zomi National Congress and Chin nationalities was held at the NLD headquarters at 4 p.m. U Gin Kan Lian from ZNC acted as a master of ceremony when U Pu Cin Tian Htan expressed words of thanks and explained intention of the ceremony. On behalf of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who could not come to the ceremony due to her tight schedule, U Tin Oo, Vice Chairman of NLD made a short remarks emphasizing the importance of national unity for emergence of democratic nation and second Panglong conference which Daw Aung San Suu Kyi has been attempting to realize.

Then four surviving families of Chin leaders and Bogyoke Aung San who had signed the Panglong Agreement were awarded ‘Independence Memorial Honor’. Leaders of NLD, CRPP members, ethnic leaders, leaders from political parties and 88 generation students’ leaders attended the ceremony. Zomi national youths entertained the attendees with traditional songs. A dinner was served to the guests who attended the ceremony.
