Honoring Ceremony for Nobel Peace Prize Winner Daw Aung San Suu Kyi



A ceremony organized by 10 D Nobel Students (former students who participated in students' demonstrations in support of Nobel Peace Prize in 1991) and democracy forces in honour of the 20th anniversary of the winning of Noble Peace Prize for NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was held at Sardu Pariyatti School in Kyeemyindine monastery on 10th December, 2011. Before the ceremony was held, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi opened the Buddha Pitaka Library by cuting ribbon.

Ko Soe Moe Naing (Ko Me Gyi) conducted as the master of ceremony. Ko Thihathu (a) Ko Sunny explained how demonstrations in support of Nobel Peace Prize occurred in 1991. Then Shwenyawar Sayardaw (the venerable monk of Shwenyawa) made some remarks in honour of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi who was awarded Nobel Peace Prize for the year 1991. Then Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made her speech. Formers students who participated in demonstrations in 1991 gave some presents to Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. Ko Myint Swe on behalf of former students (10 D students) read out the Letter of Peace and U Win Tin made his speech.

About 1000 people including NLD Central Executive Committee members U Win Tin, U Ohn Kyaing, Daw May Win Myint, veteran politicians, leaders from Democratic Party and National Democratic Force, leaders from students' organizations, former political prisoners and invited guests attended the ceremony. The ceremony ended at noon.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Meets Union Minister U Aung Kyi



On invitation of the government, NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met Union Minister U Aung Kyi at Sein Le Kan Thar government guest house from 13:00 p.m. to 13:55 p.m. on 30th October 2011. They discussed about several issues including the government's works on State affairs, free trade for economic development, a free cash flow, establisement of peace with ethnic armed forces and amnesty for political prisoners. And they also agreed to continue their talk.After the meeting, U Aung Kyi read out the joint statment and they took questions from the reporters.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended Min Ko Naing's birthday ceremony


49th birthday of All Burma Federation of Students' Union leader Min Ko Naing was celebrated on 18th October, 2011 at a Thamine Myoma Pariyatti monastery in Rangoon. NLD leaders including Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, CEC member U Win Tin, U Than Tun, U Hla Pe, U Han Thar Myint, U Win Myint, Daw May Win Myint and some other NLD members attended the ceremony. 88 Generation students, leaders from some political parties and diplomats also attended the ceremony. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made some remarks on his birthday.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met Union Minister U Aung Kyi

NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi met this afternoon with Union Minister U Aung Kyi at 1:00 p.m. through 2:17 at Sein Le Kan Thar State Guest House in Rangoon. After meeting, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and Minister U Aung Kyi met reporters and U Aung Kyi read out a joint press statement. Then they took questions of reporters and journalists.

In the joint Statement, it described that Daw Aung San Suu Kyi came and met with Union Minister U Aung Kyi on September 30, 2011 at 1:00 through 2:17 on invitation of the Government of the Union of Myanmar and in the meeting, things such as a general amnesty to be granted by the President, possible cooperative measures to maintain Irrawaddy River, Government's attempt to build up a long-lasting peace with armed groups fighting against the government from outside legal system, domestic stability and rule of law were discussed. They also agreed to continue discussions.

Daw Aung San Suu Kyi visited Photo and Arts Exhibition named 'Save Irrawaddy'



NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi visited photo and arts exhibition named 'Save Irrawaddy' opened at No. 65 Yawmingyi Street, Dagon Township on 22nd September, 2011. NLD leaders such as NLD Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, CEC member U Win Tin and U Ohn Kyaing also visited the exhibition organized by different artists, photographers, cartoonists, designers and poets. The exhibition will be opened from 22nd through 24th September, 2011.
