A workshop about Environment Held at Bogalay



A workshop regarding environment organized by NLD Irrawaddy Division Organizational Committee and Youth Wing was held on 5th and 6th November, 2011 at Bogalay Township, Irrawaddy Division.

About 25 young people from Myinkakone village attended the workshop taken place at the house of an NLD member in that village.

Irrawaddy Division NLD youth member Sa Khin Zaw Linn facilitated the workshop with intention to build more capacity and increase knowledge about environment among young people. Global warming, weather change, deforestation, air pollution, issues about waste disposal, increased number of world population, poverty, water shortage and other environmental issues were discussed at the workshop.

Libraries Opened in Laputta and Ngapudaw Townships



NLD Irrawaddy Division Youth Wing member Ko Aung Kyaw Soe together with Laputta Youth member Ko Sein Than Lay opened Dhamma Myitzu library at Myitkyoegyi village, Laputta Township on 20th October 2011 and Bawa Alinyaung library at Zeephyu Sate village, Ngaputaw Township on 23rd October, 2011.

It is said that opening of libraries were intended to enhense knowledge among young people through reading and to promote their morality. Ko Aung Kyaw Soe donated several books including monthly magazines and journals. They also formed 'Library Committee' for these two respective libraries and met with committee members.

Free Basic Drawing and Painting Training Opened at Laputta Township



A training for basic drawing and painting organized by NLD Laputta Twonship Organizational Committee Joint Secretary artist U Sein Than, was opened at Laputta, Irrawaddy Division on 12th through 17th October. The training was intended for primary and middle school school children. About 48 children are attending the training. Materials needed for the training were donated by local people in the town.

Experience Sharing



On 6th October, 2011, members of NLD youth and Youth Network who attended a training in Bangkok and NLD members who attended the Global Forum on Civil Society Law (2011) held at Stockholm, Sweden shared their experiences at the headquarters of NLD.

Ko Tin Hla, a member of Bahan NLD youth, Ma Hlaing Hlaing Min, a youth member and Ko Yan Linn Aung from Rakhine National League for Democracy on behalf of other trainees explained their experience. Then Ma Mya Myitzuu, a member of Shan State NLD youth and U Thein Han, a member of Central Legal Aid Committee presented their experiences.

NLD Central Executive Committee members including Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, NLD youth members and other NLD members attended the event.

Aung San Pin Lone library opened at Thingangyun Township


A library named 'Aung San Pin Lone' managed and organized by NLD Thingangyun Township was opened at Thingangyun Township. NLD leaders including Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, U Win Tin, U Ohn Kyaing, Daw May Win Myint, U Win Htein, U Saw Nai Nai, NLD youth wing members, NLD women wing members and ordinary people in the Township attended the opening ceremony. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi opened the library and Township Chairman U Tin Mya explained their attempts for opening the library. Then Vice Chairman U Tin Oo made some remarks on the library. Following his speech, Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made a speech about importance of education and the role of young people and libraries in development of a country.
