Daw Aung San Suu Kyi Opened BarCamp Yangon 2012


An opening ceremony of BarCamp Yangon 2012 organized by Myanmar Computer Professionals Association was held at the main building of Myanmar Info Tech at 8 a.m. on 11th February, 2012. NLD Chairwoman Daw Aung San Suu Kyi delivered an opening speech titled 'Youth and Technology" and opened the ceremony. Then she continued her trip to Kaw Hmu Township, Yangon Region.

Music Concert for Fund Raising to be Held on 30th December

A press conference about the music concert organized by the NLD for fund raising for education of ethnic people which will be held on 30th December at Myanmar Convention Center (MCC) was made at Thiri Hall of the Tawin Hninsi Compound located at East Shwegondaing Street, Bahan Township on 23rd December, 2011.

Fund Raising Fair Convening Committee Chairman U Win Tin, NLD CEC member U Ohn Kyaing, Committee Secretary U Phyo Min Thein and musicians, journalists and reporters from domestic press and journals attended the press conference. U Win Tin made an opening remark saying that a program to assist education of ethnic people is a very good idea originated from Daw Aung San Suu Kyi. It also needs a lot of money to realize that idea. It now comes into reality with the help of musicians and singers. He thanks them for that. He hopes people will also support that idea by participating in that event.

Committee Secretary U Phyo Min Thein explained the reason why it has to be moved to Myanmar Convention Center from Thuwunna Stadium. About 80 singers will participate in the concert. About 70 shops will be opened. NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi will open the concert. The fund raised at the concert will be systematically used for education of ethnic people across the country.

A well known singer and composer Song Oo Hlaing explained that the concert will be participated by about 90 percent of singers and musicians after coordination and cooperation among them.

A Press Conference about Music Concert to Raise Fund for Education of Ethnic Nationalities



A press conference about a fund raising music concert for educational support for the ethnic nationalities organized by NLD education network was held at the Sakura tower in Rangoon. Ko Linn Naing Oo conducted as a master of ceremony.

NLD CEC member U Win Tin and Information Department in charge U Ohn Kyaing, U Zaw Win, U Win Nyein, Song Oo Hlaing, Ko Phyoe Minn Thein, Ko Myo Yan Naung Thein and well-known singers, musician, reporters and journalists attended the press conference.

U Win Tin said in his opening speech that he came here on behalf of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi as she asked him to do so. As per suggestions of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi, several networks have been established and Youth Education Network is one of them. This network has done many things with success and he felt encouraged as Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and many musicians helped this network especially after their recent meeting. He is also thankful to U Zaw Win and other facilitators who has attempted to realize it. He also welcomes all helps and suggestions for this event.

Then U Zaw Win said that they met with Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on 25th November and talked about a music album to be produced. She suggested some songs like 'Nagani' which aroused patriotism in independence struggle and fought against bad will and habit of people, agitated and encouraged young people to promote their good will to do for the benefit of the country. Some media misunderstood that album would be about propaganda works of NLD for election campaigns. These statements were totally wrong. Now musicians accepted guidance of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and organized a music concert for fund raising and thanks for people who helped realize it. Another music concert would be duplicated in Mandalay if succeeded.

Singer Song Oo Hlaing talked on behalf of musicians that the music concert will be participated by almost all well known singers and musicians in order to support Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and U Win Tin. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi said when she met with them to compose songs that would raise people's patriotism. They would try to do their best to fulfill this task.

U Win Nyein said on behalf of journalists that musicians worked on their own but did not cooperate for a common goal. This time, he was glad to see such a unified attempt for educational fund for ethnic nationalities. He also believed this work would succeed. The press conference ended at 11:45 p.m.

The music concert will take place at Thuwunna Stadium at 3 to 10 a.m. on 15th December, 2011. The music bands Vertical Vibration, The Tree, the Emperor, Metal Zone, Lazy Club, Plus 3, Spectrum, Big Bag, Reason and Wanted with well known singers Zaw Win Htut, Myo Kyaut Myaing, Bo Phyu, Alex, Song Oo Hlaing, R Zarni, Thar Htwe, G Latt, Rin Go, J Maung Maung, Nwe Yee Win, May Kha Lar, Tun Eindra Bo, Wine Suu Khaing Thein, Phyu Phyu Kyaw Thein, Chan Chan, Mee Mee Khe, Ni Ni Khin Zaw, Athen Cho Swe, Eint Chit and other singers will participate in the concert.

Supervision Committee members of Mother's Homes met



On 2nd October, 2011, supervision committee members from 16 schools of Mother's Home, free elementary schools in Rangoon met in one of Mother's Home in Hlaingtharyar Township. NLD Vice Chairman U Tin Oo, CEC members U Han Thar Myint, Daw May Win Myint, U Win Htein, Dr. Myo Aung from Rangoon Division Organizational Committee, Central Committee member U Aung Kyi Nyunt and 53 supervision committee members attended the meeting.

Vice Chairman U Tin Oo made some opening remarks in the meeting. Then, the venerable U Kaw Thar La from Khran Township supervision committee member of Mother's Home also made some opening remarks. Supervision Committee members exchanged experiences and discussed about action plan for the future.

Another Mother's Home opened in Kharan Township



On 11th September, 2011, U Aung Kyi Nyunt, a member of NLD Mon State Organizational Committee, Ko Hla Oo, a member of NLD youth wing and NLD Kharan Township Chairman U Kyaw Zaw attended the opening ceremony of Amay Ein (Mother's Home) free elementary school in Kharan Township, Rangoon Division. There are about 72 students attending kindergarten to grade six in the school.
