Bogyoke Aung San Film Executive Board Office Opened


A ceremony of opening the Bogyoke Aung San Film Executive Board office was held on 13th February, 2012 – the birth day of Bogyoke Aung San at Dhamma Zedi Road, Kamarut Township in Yangon. An actress Tun Eindra Bo conducted as the master of ceremony and Chairman of the Bogyoke Aung San film executive board U Moe Thu made an opening speech. Then 88 Generation students' leader Min Ko Naing made a welcoming speech. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi accepted donation from Shin Sandadika, Po Chit and U Sein Tin. U Sein Tin donated the board National Film Company. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made final remarks and took questions from journalists. The opening ceremony ended at 9:45 a.m.




Donation Ceremony of 'Shoe Gallery Customer' Held at Tawwin Hninsi



NLD Chairwoman Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended a third donation ceremony of 'Shoe Gallery Customer' held on 19th January and gave a speech of appreciation about it. Then Daw Aung San Suu Kyi handed over donated money such as 5 million kyat for NLD Education Network, 3 million kyat for Thingangyun Sanpya hospital one million kyat for Lapyaewun Orphanage and one million kyat for Bamaw Cagholic school on behalf of donors. Ko Phyoe Min Thein, Dr. Khin Htar Htar and Ma Ni Lar Thein accepted donated money. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi accepted 630,000 kyat for NLD party fund and the ceremony ended at 9:50 a.m.

 

Art of Freedom Film Festival Opened



An opening ceremony of the Art of Freedom' film festival was held at 4:00 p.m on 31st December, 2011 at Tawwin Center supermarket located in Pyay Road, Rangoon. NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi and her team, businessmen, film directors and actors, writers, musicians and diplomats attended the ceremony.

Daw Than Than Win conducted as the master of ceremony. Initially, music bands such as Vertical vibration, Acid, Gitamate entertained the audience. Then Daw Aung San Suu Kyi made an opening speech. After her speech, film director and comedian Ko Thura (Zarganar) explained objectives of the film contest. Director Min Htin Ko Ko Gyi explained that they have received 188 films contested and shortlisted 54 short films.

The referees will select the best 5 films after sorting out for each category. All these films will be showed from 10 a.m to 8 p.m. up to 4th January. About 1500 people including famous directors and actors attended the ceremony which ended at 6 p.m.

Donation Made for 23rd Anniversary of the Demise of Mother Daw Khin Kyi


A donation ceremony for the 23rd anniversary of the demise of the former ambassador Mahasirisudhamma Daw Khin Kyi, the wife of independence architect, father of Tatmadaw and national leader Bogoke Aung San and mother of NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi was held at the house of Daw Aung San Suu Kyi on 27th December, 2011 at 10.00 a.m.

Swan (food) was provided to the venerable Shwetaungone Sarsana Yeiksa Sayardaw and five monks from Shwetaungone monastery and the venerable Chan Myae Sayardaw and five monks from Chan Myae Pariyatti Religious School. At 4:00 p.m., Baptist Christian prayer group, Muslim prayer group, Hindu prayer group and Bahá’í prayer group said their respective prayer for mother Daw Khin Kyi.

Centennial celebration of St. Mary's Cathedral



Commemoration ceremony of the 100th Anniversary of St. Mary's Cathedral located at Bo Aung Kyaw Street in Rangoon Division was held at the cathedral on 8th December, 2011. On invitation of the Roman Catholic Church in Rangoon, NLD General Secretary Daw Aung San Suu Kyi attended the commemoration ceremony. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi also met with Vatican envoy Cardinal Renato Raffaele Martion during the ceremony.
